Soroush Kamalian is an Iranian musician, composer, sound engineer, and jazz and fusion improviser based in France, who blends Persian traditions with contemporary and electronic sounds.
A multi-instrumentalist (kamancheh, percussion), he creates atmospheric, cinematic music at the crossroads of Eastern improvisation, jazz, and ambient textures. Active on the international scene, he composes for his own projects, for visual media, and for various ensembles, while also handling recording, mixing, and mastering in the studio.
He has collaborated with numerous musicians worldwide, including Tii Robin, Alex Simu, and Khaled Yassine, and has released several albums and EPs with different artists, particularly in meditative, jazz, and Persian fusion music.
Originally from Brest, Benjamin Coum is a pianist and composer. He began playing music at the age of eight; his teenage interest in hip-hop opened him early to groove and rhythm, before he turned toward Cuban music, jazz, and Afro-American traditions. He studied at the CRR of Rennes (DEM in contemporary music, 2007) and later in Saint-Brieuc, and in 2014 he obtained the State Diploma for music teaching; he now teaches in the conservatories of Rennes and the surrounding region.
As the leader of the Benjamin Coum Trio, founded in 2011, he has developed a personal jazz language nourished by Cuban music and rhythms from the African diaspora. The trio received first prize at the “Jazz à Vannes 2014” competition and was selected for the national “Jazz à Vienne 2015” competition. Within Navasan, he shapes the harmonic framework and overall architecture of the pieces, moving from delicate minimalist textures to more percussive, groove-driven motifs that stimulate dialogue with the kamancheh.
